How does SLIDR save time and money?

The heart of our S L I D R service is our Complete Appraisal Process Solution (CAPS) software.  This software utilizes GIS, GPS and digital property cards to create a virtually paperless system.  Less time is spent filing away cards and managing parcel workflows.  SLIDR's camera operator and driver also allow for the appraiser to focus on the task at hand; verifying the condition and characteristics of the subject parcel.

Is SLIDR a part of your turnkey reappraisal service?

SLIR is a cost savings option which when paired with our 30 years of experaince, can provide your locality with a hightly effective turnkey reappraisal.

What advantages does an appraiser have operating inside the SLIDR van?

Not only are GIS data and ortho photography available, but the appraiser can also access all surrounding parcel information which helps in determining building ownership and land access.  Appraisers also have access to historical data about each property that may not be typically given on a physical property record card.

How do citizens know what the van is doing in their neighborhood?

We start all SLIDR projects with a public relations campaign which includes talking to local organizations and news outlets.  Our staff has flyers available for tax payers if they approach the van.  All of our vans have a professional look including signage and telephone numbers.

Do you employ the workers in the van or do municipalities provide employees?

We work with you to create custom solutions, we can provide staff or train your staff.  We understand that your staff has extensive knowledge about your locality which can be invaluable.

With no physical property cards how do the appraisers verify parcel information?

Property record cards show up on a computer screen and are identical to cards printed on paper.  By providing the same property card your staff is accustomed to, they are not encumbered by learning a new layout.  Our data collection is as simple as writing on paper which further enhances and speeds the appraisal process.  In fact, appraisers are not required to use a keyboard or mouse, and are given the power to create free form notes and modify information.

Is SLIDR an option with my CAMA system?

Reguardless of your current CAMA system, capturing your property cards into a digital format is actually a very straight forward and easy process.  With our staff's ability to think outside the box, rest assured we can capture your property cards with ease.

We also have extensive experiance capturing data from windows and non-windows based systems including DEC Alpha, DEC VAX, IBM System 36, IBM AS/400, Linux, AIX and UNIX systems.

Is SLIDR cost effective if many improved parcels are off road in my jurisdiction?

In almost all cases, SLIDR will provide a cost savings over the traditional field visit method.  We take great care when estimating cost to localities based on statistics such as parcel density, average parcel size and building regulations.  We can also implement rules such as only visiting parcels on state roads or only driving down private roads with certain number of improved parcels, allowing our staff to instead note these remote parcels for a traditional field visit.

Since SLIDR also reduces the clerical work load of mass appraisal, it is nearly impossible not to see a cost savings even in the most rural of areas.

How is the data saved and backed up?

The CAPS software in the van is built from the ground up to make two copies of all data to two different systems inside our field vehicles.  We also use a cellular connection to the van to constantly send field data back to our central office for immediate backup and data entry.

What quality are the images you take?

Our Smart Vans are outfitted with Digital SLR Cameras capable of capturing a 10 Mega Pixel image.  Our Digital SLR cameras also use higher quality lenses than a standard consumer camera giving our images a crisper and more accurate image.
